The CO Trauma Fellowship is an exclusive, immersive fellowship designed for orthopedic surgeons who want to elevate their trauma surgery skills under the guidance of two of India’s most respected orthopedic mentors. 

Hosted at Tejasvini Hospital, Mangalore, this intensive fellowship offers a rare opportunity to work in one of India’s leading trauma centres, where you’ll gain practical experience in managing challenging trauma cases while learning the principles that shape successful orthopedic practice.

Applicants must have completed one of the following:

  • DNB Orthopedics
  • D.Ortho

Additionally, applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed the CO Trauma Foundation Course
  • Completed the CO Trauma Pinnacle Course
Applicants already registered for the September 2026 CO Trauma Pinnacle Course are also eligible to apply.

The CO Trauma Fellowship is an immersive, hands-on training program designed for orthopedic professionals aiming to master trauma surgery. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors, enhancing their surgical skills and clinical knowledge.

Candidates who have completed MS Ortho / DNB Ortho / D.Ortho and must have successfully completed both the CO Trauma Foundation Course and the CO Trauma Pinnacle Course are eligible.

Note: Surgeons who have applied for the upcoming CO Trauma Pinnacle Course are also eligible to apply. However, the fellowship will be awarded only if the candidate attends the Pinnacle Course.

The fellowship is conducted at Tejasvini Hospital, Mangalore, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Shantharam Shetty and Prof. Dr. Ajith Kumar.

The fellowship lasts for 6 weeks.

Yes, a stipend of ₹75,000 is provided upon successful completion of the tenure.

Yes, accommodation is provided for the duration of the fellowship.

You will get hands-on training in basic to advanced trauma cases, including pelviacetabular trauma, spine trauma, and pediatric trauma. You may also observe robotic arthroplasty, arthroscopy, and tumor surgeries.

Yes, fellows are encouraged to join the research team and are given ample time, resources, and mentorship to pursue academic output. They can present at conferences and will receive full academic support for publications (financial grants not included).

No, there is no registration fee to apply for the fellowship.

There will be a scoring system based on the CV sent by all applicants. The best 2 scores based on merit will be considered for fellowship. If more than 2 applicants receive the same maximum score, there will be an interview conducted to finalise the selection

Once a candidate is selected for a fellowship, the time frame (dates) for the fellowship will be between March to May 2026, after mutual agreement between the host centre and the candidate.

Apart from surgical confidence and clinical clarity, outstanding fellows may be considered for future faculty roles in CO Trauma Foundation and Pinnacle Courses. You also become a part of the Tejasvini family, opening doors to continued guidance, collaboration, and professional growth.
