What You Learned
- As a student of orthopedics, in their first year of residency, one has to be familiar with the basics before dealing with patients. This includes ward and Operation theatre (OT) discipline. The students can easily acquire this from the ‘essentials’ section of the app. They are also guided by our eminent faculty in regard to the same.
- As a resident, one is bound to be exposed to various cases every day. If the student reads one topic a day, they can drastically improve their knowledge in the subject. With the Conceptual orthopedics (CO) app one can easily do this when he encounters one particular case itself, which would help improve the knowledge as well as increase their interest in the subject.
- What to do after residency? This is one of the most frequently asked questions by the students after clearing their final examinations. Conceptual orthopedics helps the students, by giving them career guidance along with sessions on ‘how to choose their field of expertise. CO tries to inculcate interest in them by performing specific super-specialty courses with Professors who are directly involved with such fellowship training programs. CO also helps the students prepare for individual super-specialty exams which one has to attend prior to the selection process. The students have weekly sessions of multiple choice question (MCQ) discussions and they are also provided with MCQ textbooks as well, for ease of practice and discussions.
- The basic aim of any orthopedic resident is to acquire adequate clinical acumen, submit a well-done thesis and clear the examinations without creating any lag in their course. Conceptual orthopedics has guidance for each and every step to fulfill one’s aim. From ‘choosing the thesis’ to ‘how to write a theory paper’, CO will help the students have a fruitful residency and clear their exams with flying colors.
- As an orthopedic surgeon, there are a few surgeries that everyone must be able to do. Our app has an excellent section of intraoperative videos demonstrating in detail each step for those surgeries which one has to know. Going through them once before each OT, even when one is assisting can give clear and accurate learning and understanding about each surgical procedure.
- As a clinician there are various clinical tests that one has to use to reach a diagnosis. Most of the tests are learned with practice and this aids them to diagnose the exact clinical condition. However, if once learned in the wrong way it is very difficult to unlearn the same. Taking this into consideration our app has a detailed ‘clinical examination’ part which each student can just glance through before walking to a patient and each time he can do it in the proper way.
