With 34 years’ experience in the field of joint replacement and more than 20,000 registered arthroplasties under his belt, Dr. Shekhar Agarwal Sir stands tall in improving the quality of life of his patients, who come from all status of society and all the corners of the World. Dr. Shekhar Agarwal is the Chief Torch Bearer of passing on the art & craft of Joint Replacement to young budding surgeons.
Dr. Shekhar Agarwal Sir is one of the most renowned knee, hip, and joint replacement surgeons in India. He was among the first few surgeons who pioneered joint replacement surgery in India. He founded the Delhi Institute of Trauma & Orthopaedics in 1997 and has done more than 1,500 orthopedic surgeries of which more than half are joint replacement surgeries, conducted under his personal care and supervision every year.
He also maintains a bone bank to preserve fresh-frozen allografts used for difficult surgeries where the deficient bone needs to be replaced. In addition to creating a highly specialized medical institute, he has also ensured that medical treatment is available to all who require it. His humanitarian efforts for Sant Parmanand have been true to its motto of the ‘Healing Hand’. Dr. Shekhar Agarwal Sir has achieved absolute fame not only for his expertise in knee replacement but also for the several milestones in the hip and joint replacement surgery in India. He is well versed with all surgical procedures of Knee, hip & joint replacement. Sir has performed joint replacements on hundreds of patients and has massive expertise in providing complete patient care while performing all involved surgical and non-surgical procedures with complete precision.
Dr. Shekhar Agarwal Sir is a renowned post-graduate teacher worldwide and lectures extensively in India and abroad on current issues of hip replacement and knee replacement surgery. He is a Visiting Professor at the Prestigious Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. A founding member of the Indian Society of Hip and Knee surgeons (ISKHS), he is now the Vice President at ISKHS. Sir regularly visits various other medical colleges to teach basic and advance courses on knee, hip, and joint replacement. He has delivered more than 200 lectures in India and abroad, while he currently is accredited as a postgraduate teacher of Orthopedic Surgery by the National Board of Examinations and Visiting Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

- As a student of orthopedics, in their first year of residency, one has to be familiar with the basics before dealing with patients. This includes ward and Operation theatre (OT) discipline. Going through them once before each OT, even when one is assisting can give clear and accurate learning and understanding about each surgical procedure.
- As a clinician there are various clinical tests that one has to use to reach a diagnosis. Most of the tests are learned with practice and this aids them to diagnose the exact clinical condition. However, if once learned in the wrong way it is very difficult to unlearn the same.
